Tired of Pointless Meetings? Try This 3-Word Trick

Productivity Hackers Edition 14

Hey Productivity Hackers, today’s hack is simple. You’ve been there. One person talks for ages, others silently check emails, and by the end, you're wondering, "Why was I even here?"

BETTER MEETINGS
How to make meetings actually useful?

The 3-Word Rule

Purpose. Decision. Action. Every meeting should answer three questions:

  1. Purpose: Why are we here?

  2. Decision: What needs deciding?

  3. Action: What’s next?

That’s it! Stick to these three, and you’ll save hours, maybe even days in the long run.

How? First, kick off with a clear purpose. “We’re here to solve X.” Everyone on board? Great! Now, decision time! discuss, decide, done. Last, action: who does what by when? No action? No reason to meet.
